The West Coast District includes the port of Saldanha servicing the oil and gas sectors, local harbours servicing the fishing industry, and extensive Atlantic Ocean coast line, productive agricultural land producing wheat, grapes, livestock and other commodities and national tourism attraction such as the Khoi San cultural village and West Coast Cape Biosphere tourism trails. The West Coast Regional Economic Development Strategy was developed through a research and participative stakeholder process. It includes proposals for unlocking key opportunities in oil and gas, aquaculture, tourism, and agriculture niches. The strategy document is available in 4 parts on the West Coast District Web site
