Evaluation of the Gauteng Township Economic Renewal Strategy Partnership and Project: Banking Association of South Africa (2019 – 2020)

Impact Economix was contracted by the Banking Association of South Africa to evaluate the Gauteng Township Project partnership which was entered into in 2015 to leverage synergies of the commercial banks to promote Township Economic Regeneration in Gauteng.
Impact Economix evaluated the effectiveness of this partnership and made recommendations for enhancing the partnership’s effectiveness. The scope included evaluating progress achieved with a pilot-project, namely the Chamdor Auto Hub Incubator. The process involved conducting a literature review on partnership effectiveness to inform the development a Partnership Success Factor Framework, a document review of key partnership documentation, and 1-1 interviews with high level stakeholders in both government and the private sector. Recommendations for how to take the partnership forward were submitted to BASA.
