Client: Human Sciences Research Council
This project, carried out in association with the Human Sciences Research Council, sought to understand the determinants of innovative activities in the Western Cape Province. It adopted a microeconomic perspective on firm learning and upgrading, and analyses differential sources of technological change. Interviews were conducted with managers of firms in four sectors (wine-making, boatbuilding, medical devices, and IT).
